The objectives of The Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation are to foster:
- Cultural activities in British Columbia and the Yukon
- Social services in British Columbia and the Yukon
- Individual pre–professional studies in the arts that are offered at an institution that is recognized as a leader in the chosen area of study
The Foundation intends to stimulate, invigorate, and support cultural life and the social services by enabling institutions/organizations to undertake programs and/or projects.
The Foundation supports individuals through the Leon and Thea Koerner Award in the Fine and Performing Arts to advance their entry into a professional career in the performing and/or visual arts.
